All pupils are involved in getting their hands dirty and use the edible garden to enhance their understanding of growing plants along with other cross curricular activities. They work alongside Jane Wiseman, who has worked with many schools, to develop the edible garden further.
Tool Shed Charity
On Saturday 18th January I visited Wormwood Scrubs. Due to the kind generosity of Tool Shed I was able to pick up some re-vamped tools for the children to use in the Edible Garden. People donate broken or old tools to the charity and then the inmate, through workshops, work on the tools and recycle them. We were also lucky enough to receive a bird box and a raised planter. Thanks again for the new tools!! |
Daffodil Competition (11/3/19) Some children in Yr 2 & Yr 3 have been working with Jane on planting and looking after their daffodils. Today a judge from the London Children’s Flower Society came and judge the flowers. All children did fantastically and either achieved the silver or the gold award. A comment from the judge was that it was the best display she had seen in years. Well done to all the children and to Jane. Update - 7th October 2019 To our amazement, our display was picked from over 120 schools and we won the ‘Nellie Watson Challenge Cup’. 6 year 4 pupils went up to the presentation with Jane and Mrs Oliver – Hall to collect the cup. They even got to meet Alan Titchmarsh! (Very jealous!!) A massive well done to all the children who grew the bulbs so well and to Jane for all her efforts. |
